How Will You Know It’s Time?

Perhaps you’re wondering how you’ll know when it’s time for new tires. While we’re always happy to help you keep an eye on yours, we can give you some tips to help you with monitoring. If your treads wear below 2/32″, they’re no longer safe to use. That’s a bare minimum for getting adequate traction. Also, if your tires have begun to “dry rot” or crack along the sidewalls, they should be replaced. Likewise, if you have certain tire damage, it can be repaired (with proper, safe procedures). However, some issues aren’t safe to repair. For example, if a puncture is too large or in the sidewall, it is not a candidate for repair. Tires that have been driven flat must be replaced, too. Once you get that new set, don’t forget the related services you’ll need along the way. Periodic rotating and balancing are important. Also, getting a wheel alignment to start your new tires off right is a best practice.
