HOW TO SAFELY GET AROUND THE BAY AREA ON 4TH OF JULY

Independence Day is a symbolic and memorable day in the heart of every fellow American. This day is packed with patriotic spirit, and people tend to take this time of the year to spend it with family and friends. People will drive great distances to get to where they want to be. Did you know that the Fourth of July is the deadliest day to drive in the US, even more dangerous than New Year's Day? With that being said, here are several precautionary tips that will keep you safe through the Maryland traffic this 4th of July:

Tip #1:Map Your Route

Before leaving the house, check your map or GPS and get familiarized with alternative shortcuts. There are plenty of smartphone apps such as Waze and Google Maps that show you the real-time traffic conditions. To avoid distractions, let a trusted passenger be your guide when you are en route.

Tip #2: Avoid As Many Distractions as Possible

The most insignificant distractions cause vehicle accidents. Your eyes should remain on the road at all times. Stay away from adjusting your audio or climate functions, and do not eat while driving. Most importantly, never text while driving.

Tip #3: Remain a Safe Distance from Other Vehicles

As mentioned, traffic will be heavier than usual, which is why we suggest you keep a bigger distance from other cars to avoid collisions. Follow the infamous 3-second rule to set a considerable distance between your car and the car in front of you.

Tip #4: Consider Ridesharing

July 4th typically has an increase in alcohol consumption. If you plan to celebrate and drink with a group of people, consider assigning a designated driver or using Lyft or Uber to get to and from your destination. Never drink and drive or allow an intoxicated individual to guide you.

Tip #5: Preventative Maintenance

Before the holiday, consider taking your car to Bay Area Tire & Service Center. The last place you'd want to spend this holiday is on a road shoulder. Avoid any unnecessary stress, from a vehicle breakdown, by being progressive. We have 7 convenient locations across Maryland. We are committed to servicing your vehicle to ensure you have a safe and fun July 4th!
